  • Article must be from a respected news source
  • Article must be from 2013

2.  Write 150-250 word analysis of the article
  • What's happening in the articles?  How are they related?
  • In what ways are these articles debating the role and size of the government?

    1. I changed my topic to prostitution. Prostitution is a growing problem in the world. All across the world you have younger and younger teens putting themselves out there for money. Some women or teens think that it is the easiest way to make money without drugs or working hard. At 500 dollars an hour you can’t find a better paying job. This is why teens and adults are doing it, for the money. It’s easy to put yourself out there for rich guys and girls. All the client wants is a one night stand and nothing more. Spending 500 dollars is nothing for them they just want to have fun and never see you again. Both anti-federalist and federalist want to stop this issue. But even though it is illegal teens and adults still do it for the money. Even if they get caught, once they get out of jail they will still go back to doing it.

    2. These articles are about making the gun laws stricter making it harder for just anyone to own/buy a gun. The first article is in California where a statewide poll shows that most citizens wouldn’t mind the gun laws being stricter to protect them and not let just anyone be able to own a gun. There needs to be national support on gun control laws since the shooting in a Colorado movie theater and the shooting in Newtown Connecticut. The second is help in New Jersey, which same as the first article the citizens want the gun laws stricter. A federalist would agree with making gun control stricter, it is involving the government more in our lives to protect us. Anti-federalist would not want them stricter; they want to be free to do as they please. But having stricter gun laws would benefit the citizens in many ways, protecting themselves and their family.

Both of these articles discuss the topic of gun control, which is a major topic in America at the moment, and are both anti-federalist points of view. The first article is an anti-federalist point of view because they are against the gun control law. It talks about how in different areas of the United States, certain states are making laws for themselves and restrictions on gun control. For example, in Wyoming, republicans came up with a bill stating,” any federal agent who tries to enforce gun laws in the state to be sentenced to up to five years in prison and fined thousands of dollars.” The second article is also an anti-federalist point of view. You can tell its anti-federalist just by looking at the picture of the sign the man is holding that says,” Gun control is only about control”. The article talks about all these different rallies in different places, some in Florence, Ohio, Kentucky, West Chester, and a few others.

Both of these articles are about the right to bear arms. They are both anti-federalist. The one article is about the right to have guns in school so that what happened in Newton won’t happen again and the students and teachers will have something to protect them with. The other article is also about the right to bear arms and a rally that was made to get them to be allowed to bear arms and to protect themselves just in case if someone breaks into their house or try’s to kill them they will have something to save them. These articles are similar because they both are about having the right to bear arms. They both want to be able to bear arms because they want to be able to protect themselves and the people around them.

    2. These articles highlight the struggle of the legalization of gay marriage. Both articles discuss the plan, or the actions they plan to take on legalizing and repealing certain laws restricting or banning gay marriage, such as prop 8. Each article touches on Obama’s choice to support gay marriage and his plans and strides to accomplish these goals. Barack Obama has a goal to legalize gay, lesbian, and transgendered marriage in the United States. This also includes abolishing certain acts such as prop 8. Prop 8 is a law or rule that takes away the right of a gay, lesbians, and transgender to marry one another. These articles are arguing for a anti-federalist view on this, because they do not want the government to be apart of why they cannot marry. They feel that their marriage is none of the governments business and that they should be left out of it.

    1. In these two articles they talk about gun control. One of them is anti-federalist because it talks about how the government wants to make laws for stricter gun use. But he brings up a point that it’s only for the people of the U.S and not the armed security that the politicians and president have. The reading also said that if all the guns where to be taken away, the illegal guns will still be out on the streets. Although the gun laws are a stupid idea I agree with keeping it out of convict’s hands. So to sum up, the president and a few people of the government (federalist) what to make gun laws. The citizens and other politicians (anti fed) don’t want stricter gun laws because there are a lot of people in the U.S who love them and its giving up are rights to bear arms.

  13. A problem that is going on in America is child abortion. Child abortion is killing the fetus before it is able to develop and be born. This article talked about how abortion is wrong and evil. Ever since child abortion was legalized in 1973 over 54 million unborn babies have been killed. That’s 1 baby every 20 seconds. A person that has their whole life ahead them, is being destroyed because of your stupid and selfish decision. The other article talked about how abortion happens during teen pregnancy. Teens are still young, and are not prepared to have a young one. There first thought of mind comes to abortion. In the article it talks about this being a sin. You shouldn’t kill a unborn child. In the bible they disagree with this action. Both articles disagree and what the Government to ban this law. Both articles think that if you are young enough to have and think about sex, you should be young enough to take care of a baby. Its America’s choice, and I personally think abortion should be illegal. Anti-Federalist wouldn’t want this, because its taking away their freedom, and their own choice. Federalist would want this because they want the government to be more frequently in involved in their life.

  16. In these articles they are talking about the fight with legalizing marijuana for recreational use. In the one article the state of California is fighting for the legalization of marijuana dispensaries and they feel that government should stay out of the states business. In a poll that was taken in California it says that 54 percent of people want marijuana to be legalized for more than just medical use. The federal court has threatened to come into California and raid some of the growers that are providing the medical marijuana in the state. Federalists say that medical marijuana in pill form would be fine but smoking it should still be illegal. They are also trying to get enough signatures on a petition to make an amendment against the use of marijuana but haven’t been very successful so far. This relates to the federalists vs. anti-federalists fight in the constitution because everybody has a different opinion on the subject and each one thinks there way is the better way to go.

  17. In these two articles that I read they talk about how the Federalist Party wants to make it harder to own and buy guns. They want to make the background check longer and to more of an extent. They also want to ban the sale and ownership of semi auto guns. On the other hand the anti federalist thinks that if we change the laws it will be to restricting to the citizens. Also they say that if they really want to get a semi auto gun they can just get one outside of the u.s .Why change the law just because a mentally unstable person got their hand on a gun and made a bad decision. I think they should not change the laws on guns but make it harder to obtain a gun by having a more extensive background check. But I think they will end up banning semi auto guns.

Gun Control is a topic that has caused tension between the anti-federalists and the federalists for years. This topic has become a larger issue since the Newtown Shooting in Connecticut. Since the shooting in December, many federalist laws have been discussed in both the federal and state governments. In fact, the article shows that Maryland was the first to change its gun control laws. The new laws are stricter and make it harder to get a gun. The new Maryland gun control laws are now the strictest in the United States. The state of Illinois also showed that the gun control laws are needed. This was shown as they elected a new senator whose plan was to create more gun control. This is causing the NRA and the anti-federalists to become angry as they believe that they should be granted their 2nd amendment-the right to bear arms. The federalists believe that this law is outdated and is dangerous. The NRA and other anti-federalists are against gun control as this is granting the government more power to control weapons and less power to the people. The Federalists are fine with the large governmental power as they believe that a large government is the cure to shootings like Newtown.

  19. In these two articles it discuss the support behind marriage equality. Both articles are from an anti federalist standpoint.Which is a party that is opposed to a federative government. It states that President Barack Obama is not a big fan of gay marriage but he says “ just to prohibit somebody who cares about another person, it just seems to me that’s not what America’s about; and i agree.I don't think the government should have a say on who you can and cannot marry, its your life and your choice. Plus you cannot help who you love. Lastly, forbidding gays to marry violates the constitution equal protection clause.
