Blog Post #3- Evaluating the Branches of Government

1.  Find 3 articles about the 3 branches of the Constitution.
-these articles can be about the same branch
-these articles can also be about different branches
-ARTICLES MUST BE FROM AFTER FEBRUARY 1, 2013

2.  Summarize and synthesize these articles
-write one summary that synthesizes the articles
-What collective conclusion can you make about these branches based on what you see?
-What's happening today in the United States government based on these articles?
     -DO NOT SUMMARIZE ARTICLES SEPARATELY
-CITE SPECIFIC EXAMPLES FROM EACH ARTICLE

3.  Evaluate the three branches of government as part of your 150-250 word summary
-Based on what you read in your articles, how is the United States government working?
-Effective?  Failing?  Meeting expectations of the Constitution?

***YOU SHOULD COMBINE IDEAS FROM #2 AND #3 INTO A 150-250 WORD POST***
***DON'T FORGET TO INCLUDE YOUR ARTICLES AT THE TOP OR BOTTOM OF YOUR POST***

BLOG POST IS DUE BY MIDNIGHT ON FRIDAY, MARCH 15.

In all of these articles they all talk about what the judicial branch dose. The articles tell use these facts from all different perspectives. The one is directly from the Wight house to the people telling them what this branch dose. I think that the white house article sums up what the Supreme Court dose and all the powers that they have in the law. They also have power over the president and over the legislative branch this is called checks and balance. In today’s government they play a big part in law saying if people are shown their rights and when their rights are broken. They can also help people get out of person when they think they were not given a fair trial. They can also suggest the changing of a law or the adding of a law. When they think one is needed.

In these articles it discusses how the executive branch has a lot of power but in some cases it really doesn’t have as much power as people think. From the articles I can see that the executive branch of the government has a lot of power but doesn’t control everything. The big debate in the government now is what branches have the power to do what. I think the government is working pretty smoothly but the roles of all the branches need to be a little more enforced. The one thing that is in debate right now is which branch has the final say in declaring war. The constitution states that the congress has that power and not the executive branch. This did not stop him though from ordering troops into Libya. The government has definitely pushed off some of the constitution things written by the founding fathers but it’s not to the point that it is causing major problems

    3. In these articles Obama and congress has trouble agreeing with each other. To pass a law they must agree with each other otherwise it’s either at a standstill or one of them gives in. in one of the articles was the republicans asking Obama to sign a bill for the abuse of women. And in another article Obama’s bill is turned down form the House of Representatives; the bill was about the welfare Obama wanted.

All three of these articles discusses about gun control. The articles talk about how they don't want to have there guns taken from them. There has been alot of talk on gun control and its pretty equal about some people want gun control but others dont. By reading these articles it shows me how long it takes for the three branches to make a law and what they have to go threw. By the people complaining that they dont want gun control the government might not pass the gun control law because they have to listen to what people think and take oppions.

This pages talk about the requirements of what it takes to be in the 3 branches of the government. The executive branch has a lot of power but overall, all of the branches have equal power. The articles also talk about the amount of people in the senate and the amount of time they serve for, and also talk about why there is that about of people in the senate. Shows the groups in the cabinet. It talks about the steps that the branches have to go there to pass laws and what they need to do to stay in their position. There are 15 parts of the executive branch. All of the branches of government all say that there way is the best way for the people of the United States. They all think there way is the only way for the people.

The Executive Branch really got involved in the Gay-Marriage argument. The President Barrack Obama said “they will no longer defend the defense of Marriage Act in Court. The President and the Attorney General have concluded the classifications based on sexual orientation warrant scrutinity and that, as applied same-sex couples legally married under the state law then, from that perspective, there is no reasonable defense of DOMA. The President and his west wing agreed to let most states have gay marriage. The Executive Branch got involved by agreeing with people having their own freedom of speech on which they want to marry. Obama agreed, and did not veto the bill. The Legislative Branch passed the Gay Marriage law. They also agree with the Executive Branch and approved the judges and passed the bill. The article talked about how the Iowa state house passed this bill, and brought it to the Legislative branch and how it is trying to be enforced. In the article that I have read talked about how the Judicial Branch denied or oppose the Gay-Marriage law. For opponents of same-sex marriage has been very inconvenient.-Judicial Branch. Judicial Branch wants to make a law to stop Gay Marriage; also they want to make it a law that could not be appealed. All 3 branches were very involved in giving their own opinion with the Gay-Marriage law. Even though Executive and Legislative Branch approved Gay-Marriage still Judicial Branch denied, or opposed it.

These articles are about gun control and how its a struggle coming to an agreement because there are different factors in the usage of guns and different laws in different states and how to manage it with out taking away people rights to have guns. No one can decide on what needs to be done and the government isn't getting any ware on getting something that everyone would agree with to actually do something, because of the differences in opinions on how to approach it. i think that the branches of government need to do a better job of coming together to get things done and that what there doing now isn't effective.

These are three very interesting articles related to the about the three branches of our United States government. They are extensive and one even has a video which is on Obama who is the head of the executive branch. I have watched the video and it seems very good for our topic. I highly recommend that anyone interested should defiantly watch it. I also enjoy the content of the other articles and its description of there certain branches. The branches of government must keep functioning to keep the nation in order. It is good that we look up currant events because it shows that our nation is always working. The government will not just stop and all the parts won’t ether. We will all just have to get used to it.

  12. Over the course of the last few weeks we as a class have been learning about the three braches of the federal government. Judicial, executive, legislative. We have learned that these three branches of the government come together to make America what we are today.
I have read three articles about that are each about one different branch of the government. Two of the articles are from the same site and they explain what the branches are about. They tell you how the government works together to make our government the way it is. Each of the three branches have there own job to secure the role of our government .
In todays world you can slowly see the government slowly stop working together and it seems harder and harder for the government to come to an agreement on almost anything.

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/our-government/legislative-branch

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/legislative+branch

today's legislative branch has a significant influence on Americas current form of government. The definition of today's legislative branch means: the branch of government that has the power to make laws. They also have the chance to get it approved by the president. The legislative branch consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate that forms the United States Congress. The Constitution grants Congress the sole authority to perform legislation and declare war. They also have the right to confirm or refuse many Presidential appointments, and large investigative powers. The House of Representatives is made up of 435 elected members, divided among the 50 states in proportion to their total population. The Senate is composed of 100 Senators, 2 for each state. Senators were chosen by state legislatures. They have been elected to six-year terms by the people of each state. Now the branch has been trying to promote illegal immigration in the United States because they think that these laws are almost pointless because people who are already illegal are here and cant be sent back because that would result in more costs to find them. In other words they want this law abolished because it would cost more money trying to get rid of or deport illegal immigrants than just trying to keep them out of the United States.

These articles talk about the importance of each of the branches of government. They also talk about the powers that each have. There are checks and balances that each branch has, in one article it explains how one of the branches wants to put a vote on the ballots on how many terms that a state representative can serve. They say that they want to limit it to two terms. Each branch has power but not one branch has more power then the other. They balance each other out, and with one branch missing the government would be going way down hill. These explain the process of of creating a bill, and in this one it starts at the senate. Then they would present it to the House of Representatives and if both houses pass the bill then it moves on to the president. He can either veto or pass the bill. If he vetoes the bill it goes back to the houses and they vote again and if the majority of the votes pass it then the bill will pass. They explain this process, but things move from branch to branch, they check and balance eachother.

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/flights/2013/03/19/congress-stays-quiet-on-boeings-dreamliner-woes/1998869/
In the first article I found representing the Executive Branch it talks about how vice president Biden went to Rome to witness the papal inauguration of Pope Francis, being one of the only practicing catholic vice presidents. He also met the Italian president, Giorgio Napolitano. The president sends his regards saying the only reason he wasn’t there wasn’t there was because he was in Israel. This demonstrates how world leaders unit at world events and celebrate together. This is effective with socializing with foreign countries and witnessing world events
The second article I found was about the Supreme Court and how it’s now being reported they are likely to uphold, or pass laws legalizing gay marriage. Even though the ruling isn’t expected until June experts are already betting on the outcome. The article discusses arguments made in court such as the damages of homophobia, the similarity of the case against interracial marriage, the constitutional aspects on both sides, how marriage is defined as union between man and woman, and also how it’s unconstitutional to deprive the right of marriage to someone on the pursuit of happiness. Plus they discuss how if passed the marriage between gay and lesbian couples has virtually no effect on heterosexual couples. Supreme Courts debates over this in court are effective at exploring both sides of the topic
The third article I found was on the legislative branch, more specifically Congress’s case with Boeing about the several safety and health concerns. Congress is very quiet on the matters at hand and considering the risks to the public such as problems with lithium batteries causing fires. In this case involving safety, health and economic effect should come naturally to Congress. Congress is failing in their attempts to give a speedy and fair decision in this matter.
