These articles talk about communism in China. Communism is failing because people are poor in China. In the one article it says that 20% of people are unemployed.

    1. The Articles that I read were discussing the communism in china. It has had a very strong grip over the people in china for years now and they finally think they can have a change. They have a new president being inaugurated in the spring and he has said that he will do things to change the iron grip that the communist party has had on China for a long time. Both the articles were about the same person and the same country. People in the country of china are not even allowed to state their opinion on news magazines and when Mr. Xi stated that they can criticize whatever they want they were all shocked. In both articles it states that the new president will make a change and the people are all depending on him because living in a strict communist country can be very hard.

    2. Russian communism and the Pakistan oligarchy share some major problems in their governmental ways. In communism the upper class gets nicer hospitals and nicer things than the poor, some people have to resort to bribes to ensure the safety of their loved ones. While Pakistan’s form of oligarchy, aristocracy, gives the elite the best of things which is the same and giving the upper class the best of things. Although things are far worse in Pakistan, elitists in Pakistan are too rooted into the government that any change to it could be very detrimental to their nation. Although recently both Russia and Pakistan are making change, it is not always helpful. Russia is considering itself a democratic nation, although when examined the people state that it was a better with the communism. Pakistan is now at the point where more and more citizen are making it verbal the need for a change.

    1. In these two articles that I read. It talked about how the government was run and how it reflected on the country. Cuba is a totalitarian communist state ruled by General Raul Castro. IN Cuba the rich and the powerful are in control of the country. Most of the government officials stay in control until they die. Not much gets changed or done in Cuba because the government gets together only twice a year or unless there is a real problem. Since the government is so lose there are lots of drugs and crime in Cuba. Cuba is so far behind and so isolated that only 14% of the population has internet access. All of this is because lack of government and structure. After reading about Cuba I now really see how much better the U.S. government is then a lot of other countries. Even though we are not perfect not one country has the perfect government.

  19. In these articles it discusses the different problems modern government. It talks about America and history of communism and even though we do not fallow communism it very is important to know its history. This is a class of students that are being taught in Texas the communist beliefs. This is not a problem because it’s good to learn these things. This connects to my other article because the other article is about Obama and with him as president we learn new things just like any president. Obama has had some very interesting ideas not all of them good but some are. Even though there are some Americans don’t like Obama but it is kind of strange to hate someone because of there beliefs and ideas. I feel that we should see how Obama’s presidency goes before I jug him.

    1. I this article it talks about how Spain’s government has modernized from switching to democracy but that it still has weakness in the structures of its economy. Also that its members of the higher class in business and politics are corrupt and higher up businesses are making working conditions for younger people bad if they are even lucky enough to get a job. This article also talks about how the people turn a blind eye on the corruption of the government in the “good times” of the economy. In addition it states how there are other “self serving elites” in other countries, Spain has “the blocking of opportunities is systemic, preventing hard-working businesses and professionals from competing on a level playing field.” The country has made good progress going from a dictatorship to a democracy but needs to help by letting the younger working middle class go up in the business world and it would help Spain’s economy.

  21. What is happening in both articles are a form of military government in today’s world. Militarism government, is when a Country is based off war. Training their young men for war, thinking of new tactics, and having a strong military. In both articles there are country’s using this government such Europe and Israel. This is a Diplomacy system of government. This type of government can make a country have more power. It shows fear, and respect from other countries. This type of government is quite rare in today. Even though most country’s have a strong army, most are not mainly focus on making them better. This system of government is working successfully based on the articles that I have found.

  22. In these articles it discusses the problem of capitalism in North Korea. North Korea is all about getting rich quick and scheming their way out of trouble. North Korea was loaned more than $2 million from Andrzej Kompa, the owner of Kompa Investment Co. When it was time to pay the money back , North Korea claimed the loan papers were forgeries and refused to pay the money back. Also, they were bribing people to get information in and out. To conceal the truth about their government the phones, computers and radios were eroding. The articles connect because in the articles North Korea is trying to hide the truth about their government and conserve their money.

    http://ips.sagepub.com/content/32/5/579.abstract

In the articles I read I found very interesting about how South Korea democracy got better and grew. The Korea’s have worked very hard to improve the quality of their democracy. They have promoted the rule of law, there control of corruption, there freedom, responsiveness and made a good effort to make government more effective. To the rule of law, its attention has come to reducing terrorism and the violence. One major development is that the turnover of power during the past two decades has enabled all major political figures, factions, and parties to take turns governing the country, making them all responsible stakeholders. Korea has adapted to the changing economic environment and is sustaining its economic growth. Also South Korea’s democracy has turned obstacles into opportunities for reform and developments. But they still have a long way to go.

    http://www.dw.de/kenyan-women-struggle-in-politics/a-16585018

Both of these articles have to do with what women are and aren't allowed to do. The 1st article talks about militarism in the U.S. and how women are now allowed to do "more". The article says that they are lifting the ban on women in combat. It also mentions in the second sentence what women weren't allowed to do. The second article is more about Democracy or representative democracy. Martha Karua lives in Kenya and is trying to run for president. The polls Guess that if she's lucky she'll get at least 1% of the votes. But it also says that things are changing. The country's new constitution says at a point that, "all public service sectors cannot be occupied by more then two-thirds of either sex'. This is good news for Martha. At the end another women, Rachel Yegon, is running for a seat that is actually reserved for a women. She believes that women could play an important role in their government.

  25. The two articles that I read are in many ways are similar but are still so different. Both of the articles have the same topic but different points. They are both about a totalitarianism government. They both talk about the leaders, ups, and downs to the government. The specific topic of my articles is North Korea and how they have been locked up in this government for years. There leaders name is Kim Jong-Il. He has been in reign for several years. He holds everything from his people and has all the say of the country. The articles state that if you do not listen/ fallow the orders than you would be sent to prison or even killed. North Korea has been keeping everything from the outside world from there people. Currently Kim Jong-Il is not aligned with any other countries, building up his country and is in the process of creating the world’s biggest nuclear program.

This article explained the aspects of America and how it makes us a capitalist country. It compares and contrasts capitalism to socialism. The system of government is functioning ok based on the article found. Our country does have its fair share of economic and political issues. But still is not a completely failing country.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-15256929
This article was a profile on North Korea and their rise on becoming a totalitarian state. It examine d their rise as a nation, history and nuclear tensions. They’ve been deemed totalitarian because of their human rights abuses. Reports of torture, public executions, slave labor, and forced abortions and infanticides in prison camps have emerged. A US-based rights group has estimated that there are up to 200,000 political prisoners in North Korea. I’m not sure if this system of government is working successfully of not they are very threatening but the US doesn’t seem scared of them when it comes to war because of all the allies we have and plus we doubt they will use their nuclear weapons. I would say it’s been unsuccessfully for them because they are an alienated and much hated country.
